Truck Accidents in Illinois
Semi-truck crashes, like this recent one, often cause severe injuries due to the sheer size and weight of commercial vehicles. When a passenger car collides with a semi, the smaller vehicle usually takes the hardest impact. This can lead to life-altering injuries that require lengthy hospital stays, ongoing medical treatment, and long-term recovery.
In Illinois, truck accidents remain a significant concern. Interstate 94 and other major highways in the area see heavy truck traffic daily, increasing the risk of serious collisions. Victims of these crashes may face overwhelming medical bills, lost income, and emotional trauma.
Some of the most common causes of semi-truck collisions include:
- Driver fatigue from long hours on the road
- Distracted driving or cellphone use
- Speeding or reckless lane changes
- Equipment failures such as brake issues or tire blowouts
When victims are hurt in commercial vehicle accidents, they may have the right to seek compensation. This can include coverage for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and rehabilitation costs. Families of those injured often find it difficult to manage the financial and emotional toll without professional help.
A dedicated truck accident attorney can investigate the crash, gather evidence, and deal with insurance companies on behalf of the injured. Understanding your rights after truck accidents is an important step in protecting your health and future.
