A legal assistant at Ankin Law who aspires to be an Attorney had a chance to bolster her resume with a unique opportunity in her undergraduate days.

Esmeralda Alacon, who works in Ankin Law’s workers’ compensation department, had the opportunity to give a TEDx Talk at Wartburg College. As she works for a firm that prides itself on making injury law personal, the topic she selected was just that.
“What it means to be a global citizen and how refugees fit it,” was the title of the ten-minute presentation by Alarcon that she gave at the school in Waverly, Iowa.
The topic was derived from her time working at Refugee One in Chicago where she met people from all over the world.
“I really took it to heart and I realized ‘Wow, so many people can learn from this,” said Alarcon.
So, she had her topic to discuss and did so in May 2019, overcoming a lot of nerves to deliver the message to the crowd.
This is one of Ankin Law’s “Employee Stories,” which we spotlight those employees who work hard every day to help our clients.
