Rollover Crash Leaves 5 Injured on Rte 72 in Kingston, IL

Kingston, IL (July 8, 2026) – Five people were taken to the hospital on Tuesday, July 7, after a two-vehicle crash sent their SUV flipping over several times in Kingston Township.

Rollover Crash Leaves 5 Injured on Rte 72

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office said a 52-year-old Davis Junction woman was driving a silver Chevrolet Suburban with four passengers, including a 64-year-old woman, when a white GMC Traverse struck the SUV from behind.

The force of the collision caused the Suburban to roll over multiple times before it came to rest. Emergency units took the driver and her passengers to nearby hospitals. The Sheriff’s Office did not release details on the severity of their injuries.

The driver of the Traverse, a Roscoe woman, was not wounded and was not carrying any passengers. She was driving south on Pleasant Hill Road at Illinois Route 72 when she allegedly failed to stop at a posted sign, striking the Suburban. The Sheriff’s Office cited her for disobeying the stop sign.

The Sheriff’s Office continues to piece together exactly how the wreck unfolded, and the investigation remains active.

We hope everyone involved recovers quickly and fully.

Who Can Be Held Liable for a Rear-End Rollover Crash in Kingston, IL?

In Illinois, drivers who rear-end another vehicle, are generally held responsible for the resulting harm. Liability can also extend to a vehicle’s manufacturer if a design or equipment problem contributed to how severely the vehicle rolled.

Rollover accidents frequently leave passengers with head trauma, spinal injuries, and broken bones, even at moderate speeds. When many occupants are riding in the same vehicle, injuries can vary widely from one occupant to the next depending on where they were seated. Recovery from this type of accident can take weeks or months and can lead to ongoing physical therapy.

Sorting out fault after a car accident can get complicated quickly, especially when medical bills start arriving right after the crash. When many people are injured in one accident, a Schaumburg car accident lawyer can help each passenger understand how liability may be divided and what documentation supports a claim. Compensation, when available, may help address medical costs, lost income, and other losses tied to the crash.
