Springfield, IL (June 5, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash left a 69-year-old woman from Roodhouse dead on Thursday, June 4, near South 7th Street and East Laurel Street in Springfield.

The Sangamon County Coroner said she was taken to HSHS St. John’s Hospital from the scene and pronounced dead at 2:51 p.m. in the emergency room.

The woman’s identity has not been released pending notification of her next of kin. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

The second driver involved has not been publicly identified, and no further details about the wreck are available. 

Investigators from the coroner’s office continue to examine the circumstances of the fatal collision.
