Does Auto Insurance Cover Pedestrian Injuries in Illinois?
Yes, auto insurance can cover pedestrian injuries in Illinois, depending on the circumstances of the accident and the policies involved. In many cases, the driver’s liability coverage may apply if the driver is found responsible. Illinois follows a fault-based system, which means insurance coverage often depends on who caused the crash.
Pedestrian accidents can lead to a wide range of injuries, from minor cuts to more serious conditions like fractures or head trauma. Some symptoms may not appear right away, especially after a sudden impact. Medical visits help identify injuries early and create a record that may be useful for follow-up care or insurance claims.
Insurance claims after a pedestrian collision can involve multiple steps. A Chicago pedestrian accident lawyer can review policy details, medical records, and other documentation to explain how coverage may apply. Legal guidance can also help people understand how fault is determined and what types of compensation may be available under Illinois law.
