Nexgrill Wire Grill Brushes Recalled Due to Ingestion Hazard

Nexgrill Industries, Inc. of Chino, California has issued a voluntary recall of about 10.2 million wire grill brushes. The wire bristles can detach from the grill brushes and stick to food or the grill, posing an ingestion hazard. People who swallow the grill brush bristles may face serious internal injuries that require surgery.

Key Takeaways

  • Nexgrill is recalling several of their wire grill brushes due to the wire bristles detaching from the brushes, which can lead to accidental ingestion if the bristles stick to food.
  • Ingesting wire grill brush bristles can cause lacerations, punctures, severe pain, and infection, often requiring emergency room care.
  • Signs you may have ingested wire grill brush bristles include throat pain when swallowing, the sensation of something stuck in your throat, severe abdominal pain, fever, nausea, or vomiting.
  • Nexgrill isn’t the only wire grill brush maker who has had a recent recall. Weber also recalled their wire grill brushes back in February.
  • You may be able to hold the manufacturer responsible for your lost wages, pain and suffering, and medical bills relating to your injuries.

Which Nexgrill Wire Brushes Are Included in the Recall?

The Nexgrill wire grill brush recall includes Nexgrill brushes with black plastic or wooden handles, measuring between 18–21 inches long, with product numbers:

  • 530-0024
  • 530-0024G
  • 530-0034
  • 530-0039
  • 530-0041
  • 530-0042

These brushes were sold between 2015 and 2026 at Home Depot stores and on their website, for between $5–$15. Only the listed product numbers are included in the recall at this time.

To date, there have been 68 reports of the wire bristles of these brushes detaching, with 5 reports of accidental ingestion requiring medical intervention to remove them from throats and digestive tracts.

What to Do If You Own a Recalled Grill Brush

Consumers are advised to stop using these products immediately, and to contact Nexgrill for a full refund. Consumers will be given a registration code as part of the recall process, and will be required to upload a picture of the grill brush with the code and their initials to the recall website to register for the recall. After registration has been completed, consumers will be given an e-mail with instructions on how to safely dispose of their recalled wire grill brush.

Why Ingesting the Metal Bristles Is Dangerous

Ingesting these metal bristles can be incredibly dangerous, due to:

  • Puncturing of the esophagus or digestive tract
  • Severe lacerations
  • Pain and infection

Ingestion of wire grill brush bristles can result in emergency room care to remove the bristles before they cause worse damage, and to repair what has already been done.

Signs You May Have Ingested Metal Bristles

If you have accidentally ingested wire grill brush bristles, you may experience throat pain when swallowing, the sensation of something being stuck in your throat, severe abdominal pain, fever, nausea, or vomiting.

If you have recently eaten food off a grill that has been cleaned with one of the recalled Nexgrill wire grill brushes, and you experience any of these symptoms, you should seek medical attention right away.

The Dangers of Wire Grill Brushes

Nexgrill isn’t the only wire grill brush producing company that has had a recent recall. In February 2026, Weber recalled 3.2 million wire grill brushes for the same issue. There were 38 reports of the bristles detaching, and 4 reports of accidental ingestion. These brushes were sold in-store at Lowe’s, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, and Target, and online at Amazon and Weber’s website.

Can I Hold the Manufacturer Responsible for My Injuries?

If you were injured after accidentally ingesting wire bristles that detached from a recalled Nexgrill brush, you may have grounds to hold the manufacturer responsible. Product liability law holds manufacturers accountable when a defect in their product causes harm, and a brush that sheds sharp metal bristles onto food is a clear example of a defective product. Nexgrill’s voluntary recall is itself an acknowledgment that these brushes posed an unreasonable risk to consumers.

What Damages Can I Recover?

If you have a valid product liability claim, you may be entitled to compensation for the full extent of your losses, including:

  • Lost Wages: If your injuries caused you to miss work, you may be eligible to seek compensation for lost wages in your lawsuit.
  • Medical Bills: Injuries that result in medical care are often eligible to seek compensation for the medical bills incurred due to the injuries.
  • Pain and Suffering: You maybe be eligible to seek compensation for pain and suffering if you accidentally ingested wire grill brush bristles, and they caused you harm.

How Can A Product Liability Attorney Help Me?

A product liability attorney can be a valuable asset in a case like this. They will investigate the defect, gather evidence linking your injuries to the recalled product, and identify all liable parties. This may include the manufacturer, distributor, or retailer.

Your attorney will also handle all communication and negotiation with insurance companies, who will work to minimize or deny your claim. If a fair settlement cannot be reached, they can take your case to court and advocate on your behalf.

An experienced attorney in your corner means you don’t have to navigate the legal process alone, and significantly improves your chances of recovering full compensation.
