Skokie, IL – Pedestrian and Several Others Hurt in Six-Car Crash on I-94 Near Golf St

Skokie, IL (February 1, 2026) – Several people, including a pedestrian, were injured on Sunday, February 1, after six vehicles collided on Interstate 94 near Golf Street in Skokie.

Illinois State Police said troopers arrived around 4:47 a.m. after reports of a serious multi-vehicle crash on the northbound lanes of I-94. During the crash, a pedestrian was hit by one of the involved vehicles.

Emergency crews treated the pedestrian and several passengers before taking them to nearby hospitals for further care. Officials did not confirm how many people were hospitalized or describe the severity of their injuries.

Traffic on I-94 was restricted for several hours as crews cleared the scene and documented evidence. All lanes reopened by about 11:20 a.m. once investigators completed their work. The Illinois State Police continue to examine what caused the crash.

We hope everyone injured makes a full and swift recovery.

How Long Do I Have to File a Car Accident Claim in Illinois?

Illinois law allows injured people two years to file a car accident lawsuit. This rule covers most personal injury cases, including those involving pedestrians or multiple vehicles. Acting within this window helps preserve your right to seek compensation in court.

The filing period usually starts on the date of the accident, not when medical treatment ends. Even while recovering, it’s important to track the timeline closely to avoid losing the opportunity to file.

Missing the two-year deadline can prevent you from pursuing your case. Courts often dismiss claims filed too late, even if injuries are serious and liability is clear. Meeting the deadline keeps your options open.

Certain exceptions may change how the limit applies. Claims involving minors, late-discovered injuries, or government entities can follow different rules. A lawyer can help determine whether special circumstances affect your case.

Insurance claims often follow different schedules from court filings. While you may begin an insurance claim sooner, you must still meet the court’s deadline if negotiations fail. Handling both on time keeps your rights protected.
