4 Injured in 3-Vehicle Crash on S King Dr

A gray sedan traveled north when it struck a blue sport utility vehicle from behind at an intersection. The impact pushed the sport utility vehicle into a red Jeep, creating a chain reaction. Emergency teams arrived soon after and helped the injured occupants.

Police said a man and a woman who rode in the sedan went to the University of Chicago Medical Center. Both were in serious condition. A forty-seven-year-old woman and another woman in the sport utility vehicle went to Saint Bernard Hospital. Doctors listed them in good condition.

Officers issued citations to the sedan driver at the scene. Detectives are still working to confirm what caused the crash and whether any factors contributed.

Our thoughts are with everyone hurt, and we hope each person makes a full recovery as the investigation continues.

Car Accidents in Chicago

Chain-reaction crashes often start with a single mistake that grows fast. In busy Chicago neighborhoods, drivers deal with heavy traffic, frequent stops, and tight intersections. When someone follows too closely or looks away for even a second, a rear impact can push cars into each other and hurt several people at once. These are common factors in rear-end accidents in the city:

  • Drivers tailgate and do not leave enough space to stop.
  • People speed up to “beat” a light, then brake hard.
  • Distractions like phones or dashboard screens pull attention off the road.
  • Rain, darkness, or glare makes it harder to judge distance.

Even at lower speeds, rear impacts can cause serious harm. Victims may suffer whiplash, back injuries, head trauma, or broken bones. Some injuries show up right away, but others take days to feel severe. That delay can make treatment harder if someone waits too long.

If you get hurt in a crash, protect your health first. See a doctor, follow your care plan, and keep records of every visit. You should also save any photos, witness details, and repair papers. Those pieces help show how the crash happened and how it changed your life.

Illinois law may allow injured people to seek payment for medical bills, lost wages, rehab costs, and pain and suffering. When injuries keep someone from working or living the same way, that support matters. After a serious crash, talking with a Chicago car accident lawyer can give victims clear answers about your options and help you move forward with confidence.
