Chicago, IL (November 9, 2025) – One person died and two others suffered injuries after a five-vehicle crash on Saturday morning, November 8, in Chicago.

The crash happened around 7:25 a.m. along West Marquette Road near South Hamlin Avenue. Police said three people were inside a dark-colored Infiniti heading west when it struck a Kia sedan driven by a 32-year-old man traveling in the same direction. The Infiniti then slammed into three parked vehicles before coming to a stop.
Paramedics transported all three Infiniti occupants to nearby hospitals. Despite doctors’ efforts, one man later died from his injuries. Another 26-year-old man was listed in good condition, while a second 26-year-old man received treatment for injuries still under evaluation.
The Chicago Police Department continues to review what caused the Infiniti to lose control.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the man who lost his life in this tragic crash. Our hearts are also with those injured, and we wish them a full and swift recovery.
Fatal Multi-Vehicle Accidents in Illinois
Multi-vehicle crashes are among the most dangerous accidents on Illinois roads. In congested areas like Chicago, these crashes often result from speeding, distraction, or sudden lane changes. When several vehicles collide, the impact can lead to catastrophic injuries and tragic losses.
Speeding remains one of the leading causes of multi-vehicle crashes across Illinois. Drivers traveling too fast for road or weather conditions often have little time to stop or avoid collisions. Distracted driving, including texting or adjusting in-car devices, is another major factor that triggers chain-reaction crashes. Impaired driving also contributes significantly, as alcohol and drugs reduce reaction time and coordination, often leading to devastating pileups.
According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, thousands of serious and fatal crashes occur across the state each year, many involving multiple vehicles. These crashes can cause severe head injuries, broken bones, and spinal trauma, often leaving victims with long-term physical and financial challenges. Families who lose a loved one face devastating emotional pain and financial strain.
A wrongful death claim allows surviving family members to seek justice and recover compensation for:
- Funeral and medical expenses
- Lost income and future support
- Emotional suffering
- Loss of companionship
Taking legal action can hold negligent drivers accountable and help families find closure. Handling a claim alone after such a tragedy can be overwhelming without an experienced advocate.
A knowledgeable Chicago wrongful death lawyer can investigate the crash, determine liability, and fight for the compensation your family deserves.
