McHenry County, IL (July 28, 2025) — Two teens were killed and another one was seriously injured after a three-car crash in McHenry County overnight on Monday, July 28, police said, with some roads still closed as an investigation remained ongoing.

The crash took place about 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of Richmond Road/IL Route 31 and McCullom Lake Road, when a red 2006 Audi A4 traveling southbound collided with a black 2015 Nissan Sentra, police said. The force of the crash also caused the car to strike a parked 2003 Toyota Echo, police said, which was unoccupied at the time.
The two people inside the Nissan, a 14-year-old male and a 19-year-old female, were both pronounced dead at the scene by the McHenry County Coroner’s Office. The 18-year-old male driver and sole occupant of the Audi was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, police said.
As of early Monday morning, the intersection remained partially closed, and officers continued their investigation. Those with information about the crash are asked to contact the Criminal Investigation Division of the McHenry Police Department.
