Ankin Law Got ‘Justice’ for 2 Parents After the Death of Their Son

What was supposed to be the happiest time of their lives turned into a nightmare for two parents in November 2022.

Mariah and Francisco were expecting their first child, a son, but errors during the delivery by the health care provider led to his death ten hours after birth.

“It’s something that nobody should have to go through,” said Francisco of the death of his son.

Unsure of what to do next and in search of justice after their son’s death, Mariah took the advice of a family member and called Ankin Law. Attorney Jeffrey Schulkin took on the case and immediately went to work with both parents to demand accountability and recovery.

“I learned about some of the details of the labor and some of the decisions that were made by the healthcare providers, and it raised a lot of red flags,” said Schulkin.

With years of experience as the head of our Medical Malpractice department, Schulkin was able to work competently and quickly to bring the case to resolution. Francisco and Mariah praised Jeff for being available at all times of day to answer questions as they went through the process.

In the end, the case was settled in 2024 not only with a significant settlement but a sense of justice for the parents.

“He stood up for my son when my son was no longer here,” said Mariah of Jeff. “He gave, in a sense, my son a voice.”
