Darrell D. Johnson

Darrell Johnson was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. Although he was an only child, he was raised in a large, tight-knit family that stressed education, fairness, compassion for the less fortunate, and a strong work ethic. His mother worked for the federal government for 30 years, eventually retiring from the Social Security Administration’s Bureau of Disability Hearings and Appeals. Darrell finds it very ironic that he would ultimately become deeply involved in helping applicants for Social Security disability benefits obtain their benefits.

Darrell attended Bradley University where he majored in marketing. After graduation, he began a career in the telecom industry where, after several years in business marketing sales, he held leadership positions in regional new product delivery, process management, network operations, and product management. After leaving the telecom industry, Darrell spent over 15 years selling residential and commercial real estate in the Chicago area where he was responsible for over $20,000,000 in sales. While selling real estate, he also began participating in Social Security disability hearings as a Verbatim Hearing Reporter. After four years of recording hearings, Darrell felt a strong passion for advocacy. His knowledge of the hearing process and experience of over 2500 hearings led him to become certified as a Non-Attorney Social Security Disability Representative. Since then, as a disability representative, he has helped hundreds of Social Security Disability claimants obtain their benefits.

Darrell’s previous experiences in sales and customer service have been critical in forming his overall viewpoint and approach when representing his clients. Darrell is focused on preparation and having a thorough understanding of his client’s medical impairments and their ability to work. As a result, he has become a powerful advocate for his clients over the years.

In his leisure time, Darrell enjoys watching and playing sports, concerts, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
