The Fourth of July weekend in Chicago is a unique opportunity for many of NASCAR’s drivers to test their skills on a street circuit. For one of those drivers, University of Chicago graduate, Andre Castro, it’s another chance to continue a dream he’s had since he was racing go-karts at small tracks around the country. During Street Race Weekend, Andre talked about his journey in racing with Attorney Howard Ankin as part of Ankin Law’s “Chicagoans You Should Know” series.
Also in the July edition of our Newsletter, Howard talks about the importance of understanding and honoring our civic duty. We also address the dangers of Chicago’s potholes for motorcyclists and we revisit a slip and fall injury with a happy result. In addition, you can read about Ankin Law attorney, Geoff Jacobs and his journey to Ankin Law in our ‘Spotlight’ feature.
What was supposed to be the happiest time of their lives turned into a nightmare for two parents in November 2022. Mariah and Francisco were expecting their first child, a son, but errors during the delivery by the health care provider led to his death ten hours after birth.“It’s something that nobody should have to go through,” said Francisco of the death of his son.
Unsure of what to do next and in search of justice after their son’s death, Mariah took the advice of a family member and called Ankin Law. Attorney Jeff Schulkin took on the case and immediately went to work with both parents to demand accountability and recovery.
“I learned about some of the details of the labor and some of the decisions that were made by the healthcare providers, and it raised a lot of red flags,” said Schulkin.
