Officials said the aircraft also struck a hangar during the crash. Emergency crews arrived quickly and helped the pilot and one passenger. Both were taken to a hospital. Authorities described their injuries as not life threatening. No other injuries were reported on the ground.

Investigators have not released more details about what caused the pilot to lose control. The Federal Aviation Administration is reviewing the scene and the aircraft.

We wish the pilot and passenger a full and steady recovery as the investigation continues.

Plane Crashes in Illinois

Small plane crashes can feel rare, but they happen more often than many people think. Most involve private flights during takeoff or landing, when pilots have less time to correct problems. Even a low-speed impact can cause serious harm because planes have little protection around the cabin. Survivors may face long recoveries, missed work, and major medical costs.

In areas like DuPage County, several factors can raise crash risk. Weather shifts quickly in Illinois, and crosswinds can catch smaller aircraft off guard. Busy suburban airparks also mean tight runways and nearby buildings, which leave little room for error. Mechanical issues, pilot fatigue, and misjudged approaches can also play a role. When a crash happens, investigators look at maintenance logs, pilot records, and runway conditions to understand what went wrong.

If you are hurt in an aviation crash, a personal injury claim can help you regain stability. Compensation may cover:

  • Emergency care and ongoing medical treatment: This includes the cost of ambulance transport, hospital stays, surgeries, medication, and follow-up doctor visits.
  • Rehabilitation or therapy needs: You may need physical therapy, occupational therapy, or counseling to help you regain strength and function.
  • Lost wages and reduced earning ability: If your injuries keep you from working now or limit your future job options, you can seek pay for that lost income.
  • Pain, stress, and daily life disruption: Compensation can reflect how the crash changed your comfort, sleep, mental health, and ability to enjoy normal routines.
  • Future care costs tied to lasting injuries: If you need long-term treatment or assistive devices later, a claim can account for those expected expenses.

A claim may involve the pilot, aircraft owner, maintenance crew, or other responsible parties. Acting early helps preserve evidence and witness accounts.

Working with a personal injury lawyer can make a real difference after an aviation crash. A lawyer can investigate the cause, identify every liable party, and handle talks with insurers so you are not pushed into a quick, unfair settlement.
